What Is Creative Testing on Meta?

Creative testing is the process of running multiple ad concepts simultaneously to identify which creative resonates best with your target audience. On Meta (Facebook & Instagram), creative is the #1 lever for ad performance.

The challenge is that most brands under-budget their tests. If you do not reach enough conversions per concept, you cannot confidently declare a winner — and you risk scaling a creative that only appeared to win due to random variance.

This calculator uses statistical significance thresholds to determine the minimum budget you need to run a valid creative test at your desired confidence level.

Formula

Min Conversions = Confidence Threshold (80%→20, 90%→30, 95%→50)
Budget per Concept = Min Conversions x Target CPA
Total Budget = Budget per Concept x Number of Concepts

Worked example: You target a $25 CPA and want to test 4 concepts at 90% confidence.

Min conversions = 30. Budget per concept = 30 x $25 = $750. Total budget = $750 x 4 = $3,000. At ~3 conversions per day, expect results in about 10 days.
